Event: “Ride for Children 2011” - In Aid of Great Ormond Street Hospital Children’s Charity

Title: Charity motorcycle ride around the British Isles to raise vital funds for Great Ormond Street Hospital Children’s Charity
Having completed the Enduro Africa 2009 a fund raising event in South Africa for UNICEF "Ride for Life", a group of participants wanted to ride raise some funds for children a little closer to home and in the process have a bit of fun. So we created the “Ride for Children 2010” event, a motorcycle ride around the Welsh coast. This was very successful and rose over £2,500 for Great Ormond Street Hospital Children’s Charity. Following the success of this event, this year we are extending our reach and will be attempting to complete the entire British Isles coastal route in 7 days, avoiding all motorways. The event will start at the ACE Café in London on Saturday 18th June 2011, routing South to Brighton, then heading West around the coastline of England, Wales and Scotland, before heading south along the east coast and finishing back at Brighton. Why are we doing it - simply for the children who so desperately need the help of Great Ormond Street Hospital and their staff? Great Ormond Street has to raise a massive sum of £50 Million each year in order to provide life changing services to the children and their families. It is the charitable funding that makes various advantaged types of surgery possible at this truly amazing children's hospital. The route will start at the ACE Café in London, will head south to Brighton and will then route west along the coastal roads of England, Wales and Scotland before heading south along the east coast back to Brighton where our journey Ends.
